Donald Trump |
By far, the most influential and noblest soul who walked this earth, Jesus, left us a corpus of plenary inspired revelation for orderly living. In one teaching, He said, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned" (1).
Applying
this teaching to Donald Trump's latest comment: Is time up for Mr Trump? Has he
condemned himself and rendered his chances like morning mist in scorching
sunshine?
For
the records, Donald Trump appeared on "CNN Tonight" on Friday
(8/8/15), and while being interviewed by CNN's Don Lemon made the forgettable
comment after being pushed on his beef with Megyn Kelly, one of three hosts to
a Republic debate the previous night. Among other things, Trump said of Kelly,
"You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes," He added,
"Blood coming out of her wherever."

No
matter how his campaign team may attempt to spin the issue, this may very well
be the beginning of the end. Perhaps his days in the sun are gradually coming
to an end.
This
comment has led to his exclusion from an event by Conservative activist Erick
Erickson, organizer of the RedState Gathering. According to him, Trump went ‘a
bridge too far’ in discussing Fox News moderator’s tough questioning. Trump had
been scheduled to give the keynote speech on Saturday night.
"I
have tried to give a great deal of latitude to Donald Trump in his run for the
presidency," Erickson wrote. He also added, "He is not a professional
politician and is known for being a blunt talker. He connects with so much of
the anger in the Republican base and is not afraid to be outspoken on a lot of
issues. But there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians
should not cross. Decency is one of those lines."
Erickson
said while he likes Trump personally, "I just don't want someone on stage
who gets a hostile question from a lady and his first inclination is to imply
it was hormonal. It just was wrong."

In a
late-night interview with the Guardian, Erickson said he initially approached
Trump’s campaign about the Kelly statement and that “they wouldn’t deny” it was
a reference to menstruation. In the opinion of the conservative activist, “I
don’t think I should have anyone on stage while my wife and daughter are
watching who would say that on a female journalist.”
Erickson
thought with the latest comments “Trump had disqualified himself” and the
episode would be “the beginning of the end” of Trump’s campaign.
Erickson
said, “I think it crossed a line of decency no one running for president should
ever cross whether you are a professional or amateur politician."
“This
is my event, that I’m paying for and I can do whatever I want,” he said. “I
wanted to have him here as a legitimate candidate, but no legitimate candidate
suggests a female asking questions does so because she’s hormonal.”
Rather
than issuing an apology for his comments, a Trump campaign spokesperson
responded: “This is just another example of weakness through being politically
correct. For all of the people who were looking forward to Mr Trump coming, we
will miss you. Blame Erick Erickson, your weak and pathetic leader. We’ll now
be doing another campaign stop at another location.”
Trump
himself slammed "'politically correct' fools in our country" on
Twitter, Saturday morning, adding that "we have to all get back to work
and stop wasting time and energy on nonsense!"
Nobody
expected Donald Trump to do as well as he has done so far, in the polls. He has
certainly ruffled the feathers of many people with his brash statements.
However, to go below the lines of decency and attack a woman like he has done
in this modern world would very well be the sounding of the death knell over
his campaign.

He
has crossed a bridge from which there may very well be no return? It would be
difficult to imagine him turning this around. And if his campaign experiences
an inglorious declivity from this time forward, it would be because Donald
Trump has been condemned by his own unguarded and unbridled words.
Time
may not just decide, it may probably fulfil the hasty demise of Donald Trump's
campaign.
